How Aegis stays neutral
Aegis is a trust layer. A trust layer is only worth anything if it is neutral. So the neutral index is kept structurally separate from anything commercial.
Aegis Index — free, neutral
The trust scores, the live directory, the reliability data, the methodology, and the public audit trail. Free. It never charges to produce or change a rating, and it never routes payments. This is the reputation layer.
directory · methodology (/spec) · state of x402 (/reliability) · audit the data (/provenance)
Aegis Pro — paid
Routing, monitoring, premium data feeds and subscriptions. Commercial, and clearly separate — Pro is a customer of the Index like anyone else. Paying for Pro cannot buy a better trust score.
The pledges
- Open methodology. How every score is computed is public (/spec). A rater nobody can audit is not a rater.
- We rate ourselves too, and disclose it. Aegis’s own endpoints are probed and publicly marked (self=1). Integrity over vanity.
- No pay-for-rating. No one can pay to raise, lower, or remove a trust score.
- Tamper-evident history. The reliability record is a public, hash-chained audit trail (/provenance) designed for on-chain anchoring — it cannot be quietly rewritten.
